The local lakes and creeks are producing yellows and extra-large redfin.
Around 60 of Canberra's dedicated anglers tackled it out in the rain, cold and wind, with only a handful of yellows caught.
The biggest fish of the night went to the Skillin brothers. Redfin didn't slow down on the night, with plenty landed.
All the local lakes and the feeder creeks are producing decent yellows and extra-large redfin at the moment. Weedless plastics are my pick in these creeks with changing depth and terrain.
The small streams and rivers in our region are back on the map with trout season open; and lucky for us, they are fishing well.
Dry fly is probably the best method right now, but small minnows in trout patterns, or the trust celta will also do the trick.
On the coast - just when you thought the barracuda had disappeared, the leather jackets have moved in, so prepare to max out your terminal tackle!
Snapper fishing remains strong, and there's been a few more makos and blues around too. With the nicer weather rolling in, snapper fishing looks like a good place to be.
