It's an early start to the season but already some big girls have been landed, not to mention some huge by-catch taylor.
One taylor last week pushed over the magic metre.
Jervis Bay has had a good run of both snapper and some chunky kingfish, and jigging has been working best.
Ulladulla, the Bay, Narooma and Bermi have all had a little taste of some yellow fin tuna action.
I've been told that purple hard bodies and skirts have been the colour of choice and albacore have loved them too.
Wallaga Lake has been superb; it will be very interesting to see how it fishes now that it's been open to the sea.
It should fire up the beaches at a minimum!
Montague has been fishing ok for kings – hot one day, cold the next – but plenty of fish have been seen around the region.
Notable blogger 'Trapman Bermagui' filmed a school of kings smashing bait fish last week in the middle of Bermi boat harbour.
Again, this spot is showing signs of an amazing season ahead, and also how well these fish are bouncing back from lack of fish traps.
Locally, Googong and LBG are still producing some extra large redfin.
Over 35cm fish are not uncommon and goldens are really starting to fire up.
But the best news around is it only a few sleeps until the mighty Murray cod season kicks off again.
I don't expect much work to be done on Friday!
