Recently, I met a bunch of “Men in Green” that brought the saying about a man’s best friend to my mind. Big guys that show no hesitation taking out their opponents at GIO Stadium showed us how big their hearts were, by introducing us to their dogs and other pets at the launch of Canberra Raider’s new ‘Pet Program’ to benefit RSPCA ACT.

Canberrans have always loved their big men in green, but now there’s even more reason!
The ‘Pet Program’ was launched for all animals to have the opportunity to be part of the Raiders community.
The membership is $45 with $20 of that going to RSPCA ACT to assist in the care, protection and welfare of animals in the community.
To help kick off the new partnership, Raiders players Jack Wighton and Bill Cullen signed up their pets for the program.
Jack’s dog Bella and Bill’s parrot Zazu were among the first to join up and fly their green flag.
Jack said the Pet Program was a great way to show support for the Green Machine while helping the animals at our shelter at the same time.
“It’s great to have Bella as an official supporter now, and this is a great way for Raiders fans to get their pets involved in footy,” Jack said. “The RSPCA do an awesome job looking after and re-homing animals in need, so for the Raiders to be able to help them with this program is great news.”
While pets won’t be allowed at games, they do get a Raiders ID tag, pen, personalised member card and a bouncy ball!
If you love the Canberra Raiders (and who doesn’t?), let your pet be part of the action all the while helping animals in need. No matter age, gender or species, all can wear the Raiders colours proudly and proclaim their allegiance that they’re ‘Forever Green’.
