- Going away these summer holidays? Here are a few tips to keep the garden going:
- Cut the grass on high, then dab clumps of cats’-eyes and dandelions with a touch of Zero. They are always the first to grow and make a lawn look untidy.
- Give shrub beds a major soak, then mulch with pea straw or sugar cane.
- Dead-head spent flowers from annuals, perennials and carpet roses, using a light clip of the garden shears.
- Pick any above-ground ripe vegetables such as peas, beans, zucchini. Tie up tomato stems.
- DO NOT plant more seeds or FERTILISE anything until you come back home.
- Move hanging baskets and containers plants into semi-shade, then give them a good watering and some mulch.
