In 2018, Australia Day events will be held in Queanbeyan Park from 4.30pm.
We’ll bring you live coverage of the events on the Queanbeyan Age Facebook page.
On Wednesday night, the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council voted to affirm their commitment to holding Australia Day on January 26.
The motion came as a national debate was reignited about whether the date should change.
Councillor Trevor Hicks moved the motion for the day to remain on January 26, for which the majority of the council voted in favour.
Cr Harrison abstained from voting after stating that he was not opposed to the motion as such, but doesn't believe the issue is a council issue, rather a federal issue.
Cr Marshall voted against the motion, and forshadowed a contrary motion, that council consult its committee on Indigenous affairs with regards to Australia Day.
