The event is co-hosted by three of the region’s four wheel drive clubs: the ACT Four Wheel Drive Club, the Land Rover Club ACT and the Southern Tablelands Four Wheel Drive Club.
The three clubs have committed to another six years in Queanbeyan meaning another three 4WD Spectacular weekends in 2020, 2022 and 2024.
Punters were treated to four wheel drive demonstrations on a specially built track and the latest products and innovations from over 140 exhibitors.
The major four wheel driving and adventure retailers all have stalls but the event also features many smaller retailers from around the region, giving them an opportunity to promote their inventions.
President of the Land Rover Club ACT Andrew Lockley said no lifestyle show in the region offered as strong a focus on four wheel driving and recreational activities as the 4WD Spectacular.
He said the community benefits of four wheel driving such as making new friends and feeling a part of a community were reflected in the show’s not for profit status. All left over money after the event is donated to local charities.
The events have a strong focus on innovation and like to highlight new products in the market that can give enthusiasts a new experience, Mr Lockley said.
One such example was Pushy’s brand new powered mountain bikes that were available for people to test ride at the weekend’s show.
Mr Lockley said the clubs were grateful to the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council and local businesses that assisted in putting the show together.
