As many of my followers on social media would know, I've not been too mobile due to some recent knee surgery, but finally I have the confidence (and strength!) to start trekking rivers again.

Last week I had a great day on the Goodradigby chasing trout, and my trusty rainbow trout pattern mapps spinner smashed it – over 25 mixed browns and rainbows.
I then swapped the lures to a Halco Lazerpro in gold. Second cast and I hooked a 53cm brown trout sitting in the slow running water behind a big rock bar.
I've also been fishing both Ginninderra and Burley Griffin almost every night, with both lakes fishing well.
Yellows in Ginninderra are loving bibless minnows with a rattle, while Lake Burley Griffin has preferred the silent lure.
I've also found Savage 3D Shrimps Hybrid to be dynamite in Burley Griffin, but not a touch in Ginninderra!
A few cod in Burley Griffin were spotted last week sitting close to schools of small redfin in very shallow water.
Matched the hatch with a Strike Pro Swim Bait and GAME ON!
Redfin remain very easy to catch in both lakes; I still turn to a Halco Combat in red and black.
As anglers we are so lucky in Canberra – an hour drive to Burrinjuck, two hours to the coast and the same to the Snowy Mountains.
But over this summer, Googong has proven it's one of, if not the best large yellow belly dams in Australia.
And the proof is in the latest 70cm yellow caught last week by Matt Grant.
