One morning Queanbeyan’s Tim Briggs was eating breakfast with his wife when he saw a segment on television to abseil off one of Melbourne’s tallest building for charity.

He immediately called his best friend Rich McGrath and asked if he wanted to to join him in stepping off the 113 metre, 27 storey St James building in the heart of the CBD.
Mr McGrath, who said he is terrified of heights, didn’t hesitate in agreeing to the enormous leap.
The pair are a perfect example for the charity event, Atltitude Shift, which is themed at taking people outside of their comfort zone to raise awareness for youths less fortunate.
Run by Anglicare, the money raised will go towards the charity’s youth-focused programs.
Mr Briggs, 28, has a young daughter, Hunter, who has changed his perspective.
He said she has made him more aware and passionate about the safety of children.
"I thought this was a good opportunity for me to try and raise money to give back to the community so if someone does end up in that situation then there is a bit of money there to help,” Mr Briggs said.
However his abseiling experience is limited to small heights back on school camps, which he assumed was the same for his jumping buddy.
"We went to the same school so I'm guessing he has done it when I did," Mr Briggs said.
But Mr McGrath must have been away that day.
"I haven't, never,” he said. “I know a fair few people in the class did but I didn't, I don't know why.”
Mr McGrath has drawn on on the generousity of his suppliers and clients from his construction company, D3 Projects, to help raise the money.
"We've gone over and beyond what we needed to raise,” he said. “We needed to raise $850 and I think we're up to around $3,000.”
All the money raised now is a bonus but Mr McGrath is hoping to double the funds before he takes the leap of faith off the 27 storey building.
