Goddard returned to where her coaching career began on Sunday and watched the Queanbeyan Tigers thump the Tuggeranong Hawks 18.15 (123) to 6.5 (41) at Allinsure Park.

The Crows mentor was the guest speaker at a Tigers' luncheon recognising women in football on a day that all grades wore one-off pink camouflage jumpers.

Canberra export Goddard was back in the capital to celebrate her 39th birthday on Friday and said she'd never turn down an invitation back to the Queanbeyan Football Club.

"I love coming back to Queanbeyan, they were the first football club in the men's space that gave me an opportunity to coach in the NEAFL," Goddard said.

"Kade Klemke was the head coach and gave me a chance that set me up for where I am now, so I'm eternally grateful for the chance the club gave me."

Goddard is preparing for the second AFLW season and said as reigning premiers her Crows will have a target on their back and must find new ways to win.

"I think the key to sustained success is to evolve, so we'll certainly be looking to evolve in season two and change our game plan so that we can be just as competitive," Goddard said.

Goddard said the Tigers put on a great day, but believes such events will soon be a thing of the past.

"One day it'll just be normal business that women are in football and you don't need a luncheon to mark that occasion and certainly the tides are turning to make that happen," Goddard said.

Queanbeyan were addressed pre-game by under-18 mentor Chris Clifton, which coach Dave Corcoran said spurred his men to victory.

"Chris is in the army and that was spine tingling stuff, when you're talking military stuff in comparison to footy, we've certainly got an easy job compared to what they do for a crust," Corcoran said.

"We've had a pretty poor month and I would have taken a win by any score, so to get it done by 80 points is nice and the boys are going to enjoy belting out the song."

Hawks coach Nathan Costigan said his men will take plenty of confidence out of matching it with the Tigers in the second half.

"I said to them it took you half a game of footy to work out you can be competitive with one of these top four teams, but it's just that gut running, we've got to get fitter," Costigan said.

"I can only work with what I've got and all I can ask for is improvement and they're doing that so I'm happy and my final words with the boys were very positive."
