David Loft is keen to see the QPRC region thrive, building on the back of its existing strengths. The former builder has lived in the area for over 45 years, first at Wamboin, then at Queanbeyan.

He’s chosen to run for council now, because he believes the first post amalgamation election is a critical one for the region.

“I think this is probably one of the most important elections we’re going to have a for a long while” says Mr Loft, “I’m keen to see that places like Captains Flat, Wamboin, Braidwood in particular get good representation on council.”

“With my wife, Mary, I’ve been a resident of this region for almost 50 years. I’ve always had a strong commitment to our community and I’d like to be even more involved with our progress, which is why I’ve made the decision to stand for Council,” says David.

A Queanbeyan local, Mr Loft believes he can capture and represent the needs of the region as a whole.

“I don’t want to see an unbalanced council, I want to see that everyone gets a fair go” he says.

Having lived at Wamboin and built houses from as far away as Murrumbateman and Braidwood, he’s seen what it’s like to live throughout the Queanbeyan Palerang region.

His role as Group Captain with in the Lake George Zone means Mr Loft has spent a significant amount of time with locals at fire stations in and around Braidwood and Bungendore.

He’s particularly committed to infrastructure projects throughout the region, such as swimming pool improvements, and road upgrades in the former Palerang region.

“We need to have a balance of priorities throughout the Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Area” says Mr Loft.

“It’s a huge commitment, and this first term will be so important to get people who aren’t concentrating in one little pocket, who are prepared to work as a team for Queanbeyan Palerang.”
