The precinct was awarded the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia Impact Award on Wednesday and was in a category with other projects from around Australia costing less than $20 million.
A panel of five independent judges selected the project for the award for displaying outstanding leadership and a contribution to advancing infrastructure sustainability.
Mayor Tim Overall welcomed the news of yet another award for Queanbeyan’s redeveloped precinct.
“This is a fantastic achievement and recognition for council,” Cr Overall said.
“The park is already a wonderful part of the city as it connects the CBD to the river.
“I am extremely proud of the project and congratulate council staff for their efforts.”
The project received an ‘excellent’ rating in a series of ISCA categories including energy, water, land use, waste, ecology and innovation.
ISCA recognised the project’s innovation as there is no other example of a similar project at a local government level.
