Music review | DZ Deathrays | Bloody Lovely

These Aussie blokes can rock, all right. Just a cocky guitarist and ferocious drummer, DZ Deathrays muster the noise and explode in rock bliss unison. They sound like a jet fighter ready to land and they wear their White Stripes, Band of Skulls and Jane’s Addiction influences on their sleeves. It’s hard not to be energised by the blasting, ballsy Shred for Summer and the tense, emotive garage rock of Feeling Good, Feeling Great. Like all the rock gems here, these two songs are a pair of high octane rockers meant for loud, out of control parties. In fact, DZ Deathrays are an out of control beast with catchy choruses that out-rock four piece bands with greater guitar artillery at their disposal. Bloody Lovely confirms the bleeding obvious: this two-piece band are set to scorch the earth and probably kill it live too.
