Dancing queens around the country will rejoice as Trundle hosts Australia’s only and original ABBA Festival this May 4-5.

It will be a weekend jam-packed with sequined festivities starting Friday with Rhonda Burchmore and Lara Mulcahy’s ABBA-solutely hilarious show at Berryman Oval from 5.30pm.

The dynamic pair met while performing alongside each other in the original Australian production of Mamma Mia!, the musical famously crafted around a hit parade of ABBA songs.

The much-anticipated headline of the event is Bjorn again, the world’s number one ABBA Tribute band, whose performance was personally endorsed by Benny and Bjorn of ABBA.

Bjorn Again were formed in Melbourne in 1988 and have since toured over 100 countries, solidifying their reputation as the world’s most successful ABBA tribute act.

For the 2018 Trundle ABBA Festival, Bjorn Again will be performing an exciting new, two-part show; the first part will be the band playing ABBA’S classic 1976 album Arrival in its entirety – track by track, while part two will be a lineup of ABBA’s greatest hits.

This international flair is ably supported by homegrown talent, including highly popular Amitie – a female trio from Parkes who have a huge following of fans. The ladies sing their hearts out to songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s with hits from Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Cila Black, ABBA, Aretha Franklin, Leslie Gore and many more.

With exceptional harmonies and vocal performances, five-piece band Kotahi Groove will be offering festival-goers a wide musical range, with musicians from diverse musical backgrounds such as R&B, Reggae and Motown right through to Blues, Classical, Soul, Country and Aussie Rock music with a kiwi influence.

To make the festival easier to enjoy, all events will be held in one central location – Berryman Oval – instead of multiple locations as in previous years. This will create a lively, village atmosphere enhanced by the sights and sounds of the exciting lineup of talent.

Dancing queens (and kings!) from everyone will pour into Trundle for the celebration.

It’s not just musical talent that will be showcased at the Trundle ABBA Festival; visitors can take a break from the dance floor and be swept away as Tristan MacManus and Alana Patience take to the stage. For the last 10 years, Alana has been a resident professional on Channel 7’s Dancing With The Stars, while Tristan is known as a professional dancer on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing.

In addition to the main stage, this year there will also be a new dance stage for the ultimate party atmosphere. Visitors will be wowed by the incredible sound and lighting that the new venue will be boasting.

Once you’ve worked up a sweat and an appetite, there will be plenty of food and drink on offer. Inside Berryman Oval will be market stalls and food vans, along with a fully functioning bar by The Trundle Hotel.

It's the seventh time Trundle has held the festival and it has only grown in popularity and excitement.

Other not-to-be-missed events include the Fashions of the Festival catwalk competition, the I do, I do, I do, I do, I do! wedding vows renewal and Kotahi Groove counting down the biggest hits of 1976.

When All is Said And Done, the whole day’s entertainment is just $55 per ticket – including the Bjorn Again concert. For detailed information about the acts, visit www.trundleabbafestival.com
