It began under a starry sky next to the cenotaph for the traditional dawn service.
The bugle sounded the Last Post, ringing out over the heads of people who gathered for the main march and commemorative ceremony.
The parade began at the RSL memorial on Crawford Street just after 10am and paused at the cenotaph for the ceremony.
Then in the afternoon the calls were coming through thick and fast for heads or tails in the traditional games of two-up being played at Walsh’s.
Plenty of people gathered in the courtyard to try their luck in the gambling game, played by the Anzacs in the First World War.
The game is illegal year-round, except for Anzac Day.
