The delivery plan outlines the council’s more than $400 million of spending on projects over the 2018 to 2021 period. However it only includes projects that will receive funding, not those excluded.
An email seen by the Queanbeyan Age outlines the projects cut, including major infrastructure works and community events.
Notable projects to have funding cut include stage three of the Old Cooma Road upgrade, the Morriset and Lowe carpark upgrades, works at the Queanbeyan Aquatic Centre and funding for the Queanbeyan Gift and Festival of Ability.
A council spokesman said expenditure on each project was reviewed on merit and on available funding. He said projects that aligned with the Community Strategic Plan would receive funding outside the current delivery plan’s scope.
Projects not aligned with the plan were scrapped totally.
He said the list of unfunded projects would have been made public after the consultation period when the delivery plan was already finalised.
Old Cooma Road stage three had $5.1 million allocated for 2020/21. It would upgrade the section between Edwin Land Parkway and Southbar Road.
The council spokesman said stage three “remains an important part of the road network” but would now not be funded until after 2021.
The upgrades to Lowe and Morriset carparks were announced in the Queanbeyan Carparking Plan endorsed by council in November.
Both projects appear on the list but the council spokesman said the carparks, and any CBD works, were contingent on the finalisation of plans for the CBD upgrade including council head office.
The list included $10 million removed from 2018/19 budgeting for what is believed to be the fit out of the new headquarters.
The council has put the draft delivery plan on exhibition online for comment until June 4.
