Sports clubs and teams in NSW are now eligible to apply to a pool of $50,000 in extra funding allocated to the Monaro electorate as part of the state government’s Local Sport Grant Program.

The program is less onerous than other funding rounds.
It provides an opportunity for local clubs and teams to apply for small items like new uniforms or subsidised membership. Local clubs and teams can apply for projects they need funded, big or small.
The grant money per club or team can range between $250 and $20,000, depending on the size of the project, meaning plenty of local projects can be funded under this round.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro has called on local NSW clubs to apply for a grant before the funding round closes on August 24.
“Sport is a vital part of the communities across the Monaro and I encourage all local clubs to have a look at the funding and apply now,” Mr Barilaro said.
“With a grant of even $500 replacing weekends of sausage sizzles, egg and bacon rolls and fundraising, I know our local clubs will appreciate this boost.
“This announcement is in addition to the NSW Government’s Active Kids program and on top of the $200 million that has been committed to improving sporting facilities in regional NSW.”
Previous rounds of the program have funded local projects across the region like the lock up garage for the Cooma Colts, the electronic scoreboard for the Queanbeyan District Cricket Club at Freebody Oval and new equipment and uniforms for the Jindabyne Netball Association.
The Local Sport Grant Program will accept applications until August 24.
