The giving basket at IGA Karabar has been filled several times over by generous locals. Parents and staff at Harris Park preschool have also donated more than their fair share.
Sharon said “I have already collected two trolley loads and its ready to be emptied again, there has been an amazing response.” “The donations have been wonderful and I have already collected two trolley loads and the box is ready to be emptied again.”
SPAN is still seeking donations of non-perishable food items for the giving tree. Toiletries and blankets are also welcome, they will be donated to the St Benedict's Community Centre to help in their work with the homeless and people in crisis.
St Benedict's provides hot lunches five days a week and this also includes Christmas Day. They are currently experiencing a severe shortage of food and are relying on this years giving tree and further donations at the markets.
A pamper raffle is also being run to raise further funds, the package includes facial, massage, salt float, photography session, hair voucher, wine, chocolates and a dinner.
The SPAN committee asked us to thank the following local businesses for their generous donations: Monaro Windows, Khao San Massage, Rest and Recovery Centre for Mind and Body Fyshwick, TC Bistro@Kangaroo's Club, Addy Rose Photography, Natural Beauty Image Karabar, Hotel Queanbeyan, Tourist Hotel, Quenabeyan Aldi, Hallistic Hair and Melinda Award.
The market will be held on Sunday July 29 at the showgrounds.
