We will meet at 7.30pm and there will be a presentation on the proposed aquatic facility at Stromlo Forest Park (the new swimming pool complex).
This will be followed by our annual general meeting – yes, it’s that time of the year again – and yes, we do need people to join our committee and help for the good of our community.
Many on our committee have been serving the community for a number of years and new blood is needed.
You may not have a community council if people do not join us.
If you have an area that you are passionate about or you just have an interest, please think about joining us and working for the Weston Creek and Molonglo communities.
Old AFP site
Last month the Village Building Co attended and again briefed and discussed their proposed development of the old AFP site. They anticipate lodging their development application mid-September.
Bus network proposal
The proposed new bus network has been under discussion in the community and the council has made an extensive submission on this and the Draft School Bus Policy expressing great concerns over both. These are on our website.
Community Contributions Scheme
The council has also made a submission on the Options Paper for the Community Contributions Scheme. The council is not in favour of the proposed changes as they could impact on many local clubs and organisations.
Service station
It’s pleasing to see work starting on the service station on the Cotter Road. We would hope that there might be some “green” seen soon at the Coombs Shops.
50th birthday celebrations
Put October 28 in your diary now to take part in the Weston Creek 50th Birthday Celebration and Garden Party in the Fetherston Gardens in Weston between 11am and 3pm.
We continue to seek your help with stories of your time in Weston Creek: What you like about it, how long you may have lived here and your memories and photos. Please send these to the Chair@westoncreek.org.au
We are hoping to put a story book together with everyone’s stories and photos.
If there are issues that you wish to raise or discuss, please phone the council on 6288 8975. Otherwise, to keep-up-to-date with all issues affecting Weston Creek, please monitor the Weston Creek Community Council’s website at westoncreek.org.au or follow us on Facebook.
