Participants walk 5km around Queanbeyan Park on Saturday October 13 from 8.30am to 1pm to raise money for the Queanbeyan Hospital Maternity Ward.
Volunteers and walkers are needed this coming Saturday to help make the event a success.
All money raised will help the hospital buy much needed equipment to support parents and their babies.
The annual Walk 4 Babies has been held at Queanbeyan Park for almost a decade.
It has become something of a local tradition.
The walk is a fundraiser for the Queanbeyan Hospital maternity unit and all proceeds will go directly to the ward to help them safely deliver newborns.
Previous year’s events have seen roughly 300 people participate and raise $6650 and organisers are hoping to improve on that figure this year.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro has supported the event each year, he hoped the community would once again get behind the event.
“The Queanbeyan Maternity Ward has been ranked as one of the best maternity wards in NSW,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Walk 4 Babies is a wonderful opportunity to get out and support this excellent facility.”
There will be a 5 kilometre walk beginning at 9am with registration opening at 8.30am.
Some of the other activities include raffles, a barbecue and bake stall, a jumping castle, face painting and live music.
Registration costs $10 per person or $30 for a group of four and will be held at Queanbeyan Park, behind the Queanbeyan Courthouse and Queanbeyan Police Station.
Event organisers have requested a big thank you for all their sponsors.
Organisers said: “A very big thank you to Crestwood World of Learning who are supporting this event for the third year in a row.
“For a gold coin donation they are happy to take care of your kids while you do the 5 kilometre walk or walk around the 30 plus stalls at the event.”
“Money the raise at the event will be donated to the Queanbeyan hospital maternity ward.”
