Old Cooma Road tender: The council has awarded the tender for the construction of the Old Cooma Road Stage 2 Duplication, which will see Old Cooma Road duplicated to be two lanes each way, along with a cycle lane and a separate shared path, from Edwin Land Parkway to Googong Drive. The contract was awarded to WBHO Infrastructure. In a separate project, the intersection of Googong Drive and Old Cooma Road will be upgraded by the Googong developers. Establishing the construction site will commence before Christmas with the major work starting in the new year. The target completion date is mid-late 2020.
Bungendore Heritage Study: The council is seeking comment on a draft Bungendore Heritage Study. The properties currently on the Heritage Schedule were placed on the schedule on the advice of a study done in 1982 and this study has now been updated into the draft Bungendore Heritage Study. The study recommends that the heritage items currently listed on the Heritage Schedule be retained on the Schedule, that 21 buildings be investigated further regarding possible future heritage listing, and that nine buildings are identified as being ‘sympathetic development’ and may be listed in the council’s Development Control Plan.
