Last weekend marked the end of the Canberra cricket one-day competition, and across the five grades Queanbeyan’s results are as follows:
- First grade finished in fourth position
- Second grade finished in first position
- Third grade finished in second position
- Fourth grade finished in first position
- Fifth grade are currently fifth
The top four grades will begin playing red-ball cricket this weekend, while fifth grade will continue in the one-day format.
The 50 over competition was fruitful for Queanbeyan’s top four grades, and many of their players stood out with both the bat and the ball, such as:
- Leigh Walker (232 runs from six innings at 46.4)
- Jack Murdoch (196 runs from four innings at 49)
- Philip Moore (175 runs from three innings at 58.33)
- Michael O’Rourke (224 runs from five innings at 112)
- Abdul Raheem (115 runs from three innings at 115)
- Vele Dukoski (15 wickets from seven matches at 16)
- Darren Southwell (13 wickets from seven matches at 12.54)
- Michael Stachow (12 wickets from seven matches at 9.58)
- Oliver Cheatle (12 wickets from six matches at 9.92)
- William Graham (11 wickets from six matches at 13.55)
The first round of red ball cricket will take place on Saturday November 24 against Ginninderra for all four grades.
