Bega River has been a little slow but some anglers have been getting fish.
Brogo yet again proves it’s one of the best bass fisheries in our region with many anglers cleaning up.
Surface lures like imitation cicadas are working very well, and small hardbodies and lipless cranks are both producing the goods too.
The fish are loving overhanging vegetation, and a retrieve with plenty of pauses and small twitches.
Cod season is here and unfortunately so are the poachers. I found several set lines in a 100 metre stretch of the river.
Don’t forget – if you do see illegal fishing active in our region, take photos and report it immediately to Access Canberra.
Some nice fish were caught on open night with a few big fish coming out of the Murrumbidgee and Burrinjuck.
Big lures have yet again been the key to the bigger fish. I spoke to many anglers who hit the water early Saturday morning, and the reports of surface action and missed opportunity is astounding.
Lake Ginninderra rock wall was full of activity with lots of small cod in the 50cm mark, which shows our local fish stocking is working.
The south coast is still fishing well for bream, whiting and duskies in the estuaries; poppers and bloodworm plastics are working best.
Anglers spinning the beaches are still getting salmon and taylor; working the wash and gutters pays off.
Out wide, snapper are consistent and there have been some good reports of yellow fin and albacore straight out the front of Bermagui.
