It has been a good year culminating in a wonderful garden party to celebrate our Weston Creek’s 50th birthday.
We also shared a birthday cake at Cooleman Court in June.
We had a great talk in November about bushfires and awareness and preparation. We just hope that we don’t have to put it into practice this summer.
Next year will see a Walk-in-Health Centre adjacent to Cooleman Court open late in 2019, and work has commenced on the bus stops needed in Parkinson Street to accommodate the new bus network, starting in April next year.
We will see the development application for the Old AFP Site early next year, and we thank the Village Building Co for their ongoing consultation on this.
Their community consultations are in stark contrast to the lack of consultation by developers in Coombs and Wright who seem to believe that anything is fair game and lodge development applications accordingly.
Government needs to act now on what is happening in these suburbs to bring amenity and services to the residents here.
They could take a chapter or two from what is happening under the Capital Estate Developments in Denman Prospect on how to go about developing a suburb and bring services and amenities with it.
I would like to wish all residents a safe and happy Christmas and a healthy and happy 2019.
I would also like to thank the committee of council for their hard work throughout the year in trying to make a better outcome for our residents and businesses.
I would also thank the Chronicle for the opportunity to address the community each month.
Our first meeting in 2019 will be on Wednesday, February 27.
If there are issues that you wish to raise or discuss, please phone the council on 6288-8975.
