Yes, legal kingfish have turned up in good strong numbers - only three months late, but better late than never.
Live baits have been the best way to entice a strike, but whole pilchards or squid baits also accounted for a few fish, and not much luck on lures at this stage.
Down off Eden they are still experiencing one of the hottest marlin bites ever, and the action continues while writing this article.
My good friend Aaron is in the thick of the action, yesterday going 7-5-5 and today sitting 9-7-6 on mostly striped marlin.
There has also been some cracking mahi mahi in the 15kg range caught this week, mostly around trap floats.
Locally it's been a tough summer; the consistency of our lakes has been terrible.
Big rains one week making the water chocolate milk, to extreme temperatures; things have not been in anglers' favour.
Bait anglers using worms have fared best; around Black Mountain and the mouth of the Molonglo have been fishing best for natives.
Redfin have been on the chew along Kings Avenue Bridge and the mouth of Sutherlands creek.
Googong on the other hand is probably the most consistent (what the?).
Plenty of good natives have been getting caught, and different methods have been working.

Plenty of good natives have been getting caught, and different methods have been working.
Rolling grubs and bobbing yabbies has worked well around submerged trees, while vertical jigging has filled your boat with reddies, goldens and cod.
Bank fishing has also been very productive; worms and yabbies cast close to structure have landed some big fish this week.
