On March 12 at 2.25pm, officers were patrolling Tuggeranong Parkway in an unmarked car when they were overtaken by a blue Ford Falcon utility.
Police followed the ute to determine its speed and safely intercept it. Officers allege the ute reached speeds estimated at over 150km/h.
Police stopped the vehicle and gave the driver a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.
The officers took the driver to the City Police Station for further analysis, returning a result of 0.227, which is more than four times the legal limit for a full licence holder.
The man has been granted bail and will be summonsed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date charged with level four drink-driving, aggravated dangerous driving and speeding.
