Less than two months out from the the June 5 series opener in Brisbane, the Sea Eagles confirmed on Monday Trbojevic would miss between six and nine weeks as a result of the blow.

It means the speedster's earliest possible return will be if he misses just six games and comes back against the Gold Coast on May 24, just three days before teams for game one are announced.

Manly would also be expected to take a cautious approach with their biggest attacking weapon, given he was only in his second game back from a similar injury on the same hamstring when he went down against South Sydney on Saturday.

Blues coach Brad Fittler indicated on Sunday he could pick Trbojevic off just one game, but if the 22-year-old even comes back after seven weeks on the sideline he'd be required to enter Origin without any match time.

Trbojevic played on the wing for NSW last season and his injury adds even further questions over the Blues' backline, given Brisbane centre James Roberts is also struggling with an Achilles tendon injury.

Trbojevic's absence will also represent a significant blow to Manly, who rely heavily on the fullback's attacking prowess.

He already looked in dangerous form, scoring a double and setting up another two last week against the Warriors before also claiming a four-pointer before being injured against the Rabbitohs.

Manly players were on Monday vowing to overcome his absence, despite captain Daly Cherry-Evans admitting on Saturday the sight of him going down was deflating.

"Losing a player like Tom, he is an Origin and Australian player and a big part of the team," forward Addin Fonua-Blake said.

"But we can't sit around with our heads down for too long, we have to move on ... We have good depth.

"Brendan Elliot might slot into fullback and he is a really good footy player. He does his job and we will put all our faith in him.

"Tom is that type of guy, he doesn't let anything get him down too much.

"We all offered out support but Tom he is a positive person ... When he does his rehab he kills it."

Manly received at least good news on Monday as Corey Waddell passed a head injury assessment test with the forward on track to face Newcastle on Saturday, after he suffered a concussion during the round four win.
