Heritage Awards
As part of the Heritage Festival, the 2019 Heritage Awards were held at the Braidwood Museum.
We had quality nominations in all three categories.
The Queanbeyan Hive took out the first category, restoration of a heritage building, in recognition of the painstaking rejuvenation of the 1910s cottage on Crawford Street.
The second category, new building design, went to a home on Campbell Street in Queanbeyan that picks up key features, colours and designs of surrounding heritage properties.
In the third category, promotion and contribution to heritage, the winner was John-Pierre Favre whose sketches of heritage buildings around the region have been reproduced on postcards and tea towels that have been sent all around the world.
In addition to these winners, highly commended awards were given in each category in recognition of the fabulous work done in the heritage space in the last year.
Annual Grants
Applications for support under the council's annual grants program are closing soon. The program is open to not-for-profit community organisations, with grants of up to $2000 available.
In Category A, applications must be for the charitable purposes of either the relief of poverty, the advancement of education or other community purposes for which there is agreement by resolution of the council.
In Category B, organisations that may not be able to meet the cost of hiring a council facility can apply for assistance. Applications close May 9. Find all the details on the council's website:
Stormwater Masterplan
We are seeking comments on a draft Stormwater Masterplan for southern Bungendore. This area of Bungendore is developing rapidly and does not have a coordinated stormwater management plan.
- This document can be viewed online via yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
As with all items on exhibition, comments can be made online, via email to the council, by mail or by dropping in a submission in person to one of the council's offices.
Comments are open until May 16.
