Having finished fifth in 2018, this start was far from ideal for the Whites, who have seen a host of changes to the look of their first grade lineup in 2019.
This young and relatively inexperienced lineup is undergoing a rebuilding phase, and the club commended both the performance of their opponents and the resilience of its young team in a Facebook post shortly after their 32-19 loss.
"Congrats to Gungahlin Eagles Rugby Union Club on continuing their great start to the season!" the club said. "Great effort by our young side who were in it for 70 minutes! Exciting times ahead for our team!"
Round one saw a tough loss to the Canberra Royals, which was then followed by a loss to Uni-Norths Owls before last weekend's clash against Gungahlin.
Although the second grade side also fell to a heavy defeat against the Eagles, it was not all bad news for the Whites on the weekend. Their Colts team managed a sterling comeback to steal an 18-21 victory against Gungahlin.
The First Division First Grade Whites also went down to the Eagles, 67-7, and the weekend was capped off by the First Division Second Grade side's 22-36 win.
Next weekend, Queanbeyan will take on the Tuggeranong Vikings at Viking Park.
The Premier Division First Grade match between Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan will kick off from 3.25 pm on Saturday May 4.
