The results of the "TCC Youth and Engagement Forum" has now been forwarded on to the high schools and colleges involved on the day along with the local MLA's and relevant sections.
The students have requested that council continue this annual event, now in its third year.
The TCC Youth and Engagement Committee will meet on Monday June 17, at 5.30pm at the CIT, Anketell Street, Tuggeranong.
The meeting will now include a guest speaker on a topic of interest such as preparation for the workforce, employment and so on. If any student is interested in participating in the meeting, please contact (0431 235 970) by June 10.
At our May TCC meeting the guest speakers for the evening, from the University of Canberra, spoke about the research being undertaken on Lake Tuggeranong to stop the annual blue green algal infestations.
They reported the results to date were inconclusive and their final report will be submitted to government when all the results are fully analysed.
They also indicated that more research would be needed. The council has forwarded a request to the ACT Chief Minister, Andrew Barr, that funds be continued for further research and when a final decision is made on this serious Lake Tuggeranong algal infestation that it be also adequately funded for the future.
The May TCC Meeting also included "A Meet the Candidates Forum" for the new electorate of Bean. Unfortunately only four candidates attended on the night.
The next meeting of the Tuggeranong Community Council will be held on June 4, at 7.30pm at the Vikings Town Centre Club, corner Athllon Drive and Rowland Crescent, Greenway.
The guest speakers for this meeting will discuss phasing out single use plastics and we will have an update from the new ACT CEO of Communities at Work.
We are also planning to have an update on energy rebates. We welcome all new residents of the Tuggeranong region.
