Coaches are paid the big money when the game is on the line. With the scores level and 10 minutes remaining, Whites coach Paul Dillon, made a game changing decision just before the scrum leading up to the final try.

"We changed the whole front row. Having some fresh heads on there was good," Dillon said.

The Whites went on to kick a penalty in the final seconds to win by eight points.

Dillon was ecstatic with the victory and said the most pleasing thing on the day was his side's ability to hold on in a pressure situation.

"It was a good feeling to win," he said.

"It was close in the end and it could have gone either way.

"We could have lost that game easily as Easts are really good."

The home side had only won two games heading into that contest and now have momentum after winning back to back matches.

"We've only won three games so it was nice to string a couple together," Dillon said.

"We have a bye next week, so we just need to put some kilometres into the legs and regroup."

The Whites are fifth on the ladder in the ACT Premier Division First Grade competition.

Following the bye, the Queanbeyan Whites play the Gungahlin Eagles on Saturday, June 15 from 3.05pm at Campese Field.
