What's On: Kids to get a glow with a game of tennis

Fresh off the success of Ashleigh Barty's triumph at the French Open, here's a chance for your child to discover whether they're the next tennis prodigy.

On Saturday June 15 from 6pm, the Parkside Tennis Academy at Queanbeyan Park Tennis Club, 100 Campbell Street, will be hosting 'Night Vision', a glow-in-the-dark tennis party. It's believed to be the first time the event - which is suitable for ages 6 to 12 (but, let's admit, would be fun at any age!) - will have run in the region. Organisers say that greats of the game, such as Roger Federer and Serena Williams, have had a go at glow-in-the-dark.

About 40 children from the Canberra/Queanbeyan area are expected at this unique event (the maximum capacity for the glow-in-the-dark courts). Parkside Tennis Academy will run teens/adults events later this year, but are taking bookings for private events: birthday or staff parties, or team building. Children should be dressed to play in white- or bright-coloured clothing, which will glow in the dark. They will be participating in fun, tennis-inspired party games run by professional coaches. The night will also have pizza, party food, drinks and music on offer.

  • Tickets: $35. Book: parksidetennis.com.au/nightvision
