Some big browns have been in the shallows early in the morning looking for food, which is ideal for fly and spinning anglers.
On the coast, reef fishing remains consistent along the south coast with snapper and mowong in good numbers.
Plastics drifted along the edges of the reef not only produces good reef fish, but flathead are quite hungry and will be attracted to these methods of fishing as well.
Kingfish continue to bite well at Montague and jigs are still the best way to target them.
Quite a few larger fish have been caught this week which is very promising that this winter bite could carry on. Bluefin fishing has been hard on days and electric on others.
Tuna are now being caught off Sydney and still off Portland so the schools are definitely spread far up and down the coast.
A few whoppers were caught last week with the biggest going just over 130kg (now thats a fish!), even a few Marlin and short bill encounters have been reported.
Locally, Burrinjuck is where I would head to chase a nice cod, as all types of methods have been catching good numbers.
Bait anglers with yabbies and cheese; trolling anglers running spoons to give there lures extra flashes and vibrations; and of course the flicker throwing numerous lures, thousands of times. Large swim baits and spinner baits is what Id be throwing.
