Queanbeyan River shared path bridge: The new shared path bridge over the Queanbeyan River is now open to the public. The bridge reduces the need for pedestrians and cyclists to cross busy Morisset Street twice within a short distance when trying to get around the heart of the city. The need for a safe river crossing was identified by the community when we were consulting on plans for the QEII Park. There is one further stage to go to fully complete the river walk loop - a section of shared-path along the river's edge which will be completed as part of the refurbishment of the caravan park.

Heritage Festival contributions: The theme for the 2020 Heritage Festival is "Looking back, looking forward". We'd love contributions of images from the community that depict an earlier period and a current one from the same location. If you have an interesting image to submit from anywhere around Queanbeyan-Palerang, please send them to our local history librarian, Brigid Whitbread by emailing brigid.whitbread@qprc.nsw.gov.au. Please note that by submitting images you agree that council and the library are free to use the images in any way and at any time.

Queanbeyan Library renovations: Queanbeyan Library has been undergoing some renovations, with a new modern shelving system, a more efficient service counter, fresh coat of paint and cleaning of carpets. The library reopens Monday, September 16, but will have some reduced services while work continues on the shelving of the collection. Computers and wi-fi and most of the collection will be available, but the upper level study and non-fiction area will be closed to the public while it continues to be worked on. The Axis Youth Centre's Storybook Cafe is offering free coffees from 3.30-5.30pm every Monday in the library from September 16 to October 21. Come and support the next generation of baristas going through the award-winning training program.
