Some decent schools of reddies are in the deeper water and, as we all know, where the reddies are, the natives aren't too far away.
Working lures vertically through the school has caught a few fish.
I personally run either a Rapala ice jig or TN40.
Later in the day, goldens have been quite shallow in the weed, waiting to ambush prey.
A lightly rigged squidgy prawn or black gulp bounced along the outer edge of weed beds has been very productive.
Some days, fish will hit the lure straight up, but others it's all about the pause around that 10-15 second mark.
It's amazing how yellow belly/golden perch feed. One day a fast retrieve works; the next it's dead slow.
What I have noticed is what works that day is what works all day.
Pay attention to what that first fish is caught on, because more often than not, it's what the fish want on the day.
