The high country saw around 6mm of rain and with the addition of melting snow, this gave both the Eucumbene and Snowy Rivers a little boost.

And yes - the fishing was fantastic!

Many anglers caught some great rainbows just down from Gaden Trout Farm on the Snowy, using a range a hard-bodied lures and as usual, the spotted dog from Rapala was the stand out colour.

Fly anglers also landed some beautifully conditioned fish with red tags and olive nymphs doing the damage.

Bank fishing at Tantangra and Eucumbene has been quite good; biggest tip is stop casting out a mile as the fish are at your feet.

Also use minimal weight to keep away from the yabbies. Best baits are yabbie or a combo of their meat matched with your favourite power bait - it's a recipe to land you a few.

The Goodradigbee also fished quite well and small Rapala count downs and spinners worked a treat catching gorgeous pan-sized trout.

There has also been big numbers of reddies just below the waterfall, down Gentle Annie Trail/Flee Creek, and in this nice clean water they are a great table option.

Locally, the bank bite for yellows should start to really fire as the lake's temperature has risen quite fast and now plenty of fish have been sounded and seen in the shallows.

Rising water levels will only increase the shallow activity and with a few more showers on the forecast things should improve.
