Wade has tuned up for his Test selection by making 89 for Tasmania against South Australia in their Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

Wade and Alex Doolan's unbeaten 170 dominated Tasmania's first innings of 5-345 before they declared 145 runs behind SA's first innings total.

The Redbacks then aggressively advanced to 2-166 from 27 overs at stumps in their second innings, a lead of 311 runs entering the final day.

Wade soaked up 256 balls but a brain-fade cost him a ton - he smacked a rank knee-high full toss from part-time spinner Tom Cooper to the deep square leg fielder.

"It was a good chance to get some time out there which you can't buy in the nets," he said.

"It was a good opportunity to get a big hundred but it just didn't happen."

Wade is certain to be included in Australia's squad to be announced on Thursday for the first Test against Pakistan starting November 21 in Brisbane.

But the 31-year-old won't heavily scrutinise Pakistan's bowlers ahead of the series opener.

"I find I have got things that I try and concentrate on a lot more than worry about what the opposition is doing so much," Wade said.

"If there's a bowler with a different action or something that I feel like I need to see, I will see a little bit maybe in the team meeting.

"But I don't go really deep into watching them too much. It's more about what I need to do to get the best out of myself."

Wade said batting in the middle order gave him "plenty enough" time to watch opposition bowlers on game day.

"When I was younger I watched a lot of footage and it used to do my head in," he said.

"Watching James Anderson and those blokes knock a heap of lefthanders over, you're almost beaten before you go out there.

"(Now) I just go out there and concentrate on what I'm doing."
