We have asked the Attorney-General of the ACT, Gordon Ramsay MLA, to attend and talk on building standards and quality. At the time of writing we are uncertain if he will attend.

We will also have a briefing on the new Walk-in-Health Centre which will be located adjacent to Cooleman Court, and Transport Canberra will provide an update on the new bus network - a busy night.

Last month we had an excellent presentation by the ACT Rural Fire Service about "Being Bushfire Ready" and the ACT Police provided an update on the law and order situation in Weston Creek and Molonglo.

Council has lodged a submission on the development application for the Old AFP Site in Weston. In broad terms we support the proposal but have made a series of comments and suggestions on the proposal.

Council has lodged a submission on the company's request for re-consideration of the development application on its block in Coombs. Council has pointed out again that the company was asking to change the maximum number of dwelling units to remain well above the number that the block was sold for and should be refused. We also stated that there would be unfair market advantage, precedent set and the unplanned additional load placed on infrastructure.

Council has received reports lately of a rise in anti-social vehicle use on the roads of Molonglo and Weston Creek. Council encourages residents witnessing such activity to make a police report (on 131444) giving all relevant details, including the registration details of any vehicles.

It's that time again when council reaches out to residents for you to tell us what you think across a range of areas. These include facilities at Cooleman Court, Weston Creek, Molonglo, infrastructure needs, the public domain and roads and transport. We are hoping to have this out soon.

Council welcomes the announcement that the ACT Government will plant an additional 17,000 trees in the next four years and you can comment on this on the Have Your Say Website. However, council has great concerns that there are insufficient resources to care and maintain our present trees, and there needs to be a substantial increase in resources to support our current trees as well as the proposed new plantings.
