Some mates of mine fished out of Narooma and headed south to the shelf.
In the distance they noticed lots of bird activity, so they went for a sticky beak; the birds located a huge school of medium to large albacore and also bluefin tuna around 40kg.
Skirted lures and Xraps did the damage and the boys returned home with stretched arms and a great feed.
Bird activity around Montague has been helpful when helping to find a few kingfish and bonito, but it's a little inconsistent at present.
The kingfish schools are on the surface and feeding on small baitfish.
A stick bait or minnow style lure cast into the thick of the action is probably your best and live baits have also been quite productive.
Sand flathead remain quite easy to find in the region and are loving squid and fresh fish baits.
The Bega River is improving every day, and a great array of fish are being caught right now.
Two and a half inch grub soft plastics are out-fishing other methods and open the door to most prized fish in the system. Surface flat fishing has also been electric.
Locally, cod are popping up everywhere.
The 'Bidgee, Molonglo, LBG, Tuggers, Ginninderra, Yerribi and Googong have all had their fair share of fish caught, even in the middle of the day.
Try focusing on the shady dark water as that's where they are holding.
