Now the effort is turning to the recovery of the natural, cultural and environmental aspects of the park.
Mr Mick Gentleman MLA, Minister for the Environment and Heritage and for Police and Emergency Services, will speak at the next meeting of the Tuggeranong Community Council meeting about the response to the fire and the recovery plan to restore the environment.
As part of Clean-Up Australia Day, Tuggeranong Lake Carers, with the support of the Tuggeranong Community Council, the Southern ACT Catchment Group, the Tuggeranong Rowing Club and the Tuggeranong Sea Scouts, are organising a clean-up of Lake Tuggeranong on Sunday, March 1, from 10am to 1pm.
Meet and register at the Sea Scout Hall on Mortimer Lewis Drive, East Greenway and bring gloves, a hat and water bottle. If it suits you better you can also register until 11am at the back of the library near the Tuggeranong Community Centre, Cowlishaw Street, Tuggeranong. The Tuggeranong Community Council is putting on a free barbecue near the Scout Hall for all participants from approximately 12.30-1.30pm.
We will also hear from EvoEnergy about the future of gas in the ACT.
The results of the Tuggeranong Youth Survey will also be presented at the meeting on Tuesday, March 3 commencing at 7.30pm.
