Farmers embrace rain across parts of the Southern Tablelands

FARMERS are embracing rain which has continued to fall across parts of the Southern Tablelands since early Monday morning.

The heaviest falls have been recorded in the north eastern part of the region.

Crookwell received the most rain out of the region's capitals with 15.8 millimetres by 9am at the Bureau of Meteorology's weather station at the post office.

Rain also fell in Goulburn overnight with 7.4mm recorded at the city's TAFE and airport.

In Braidwood 6.6mm was recorded and in Canberra 13.2mm.

Yass received less than a millimetre, although 13 kilometres away in Bowning 2.4mm was recorded.

Despite little rain in Braidwood overnight, it is currently showing the best soil moisture according to Local Land Services South East soil moisture probe network.

  • Braidwood - 2.6mm (10cm 100%/20cm 100%/40cm 63%/60cm 87%)
  • Bungonia - 5.6mm (10cm 56%/20cm 69%/40cm 92%/60cm 100%)
  • Gunning - 4mm (10cm 20%/20cm 100%/40cm 69%/60cm 15%)
  • Laggan - 17.6mm (10cm 91%/20cm 72%/40cm 47%/60cm 62%)
  • Lake Bathurst - 1.4mm (10cm 14%/20cm 34%/40cm 48%/60cm 14%)
  • Rugby - 5mm (10cm 30%/20cm 21%/40cm 23%/60cm 2%)
  • Taralga - (not recording, but received 15mm according to BOM's weather station at the post office)
  • Wheeo - 16.8mm (10cm 33%/20cm 79%/40cm 46%/60cm 10%)
  • Bookham - 0.8mm (10cm 60%/20cm 77%/40cm 54%/60cm 44%)
  • Boorowa - 7mm (10cm 37%/20cm 35%/40cm 48%/60cm 22%)
  • Bowning - 2.4mm (10cm 47%/20cm 54%/40cm 71%/60cm 27%)
  • Murrumbateman - 0.4mm (10cm 67%/20cm 55%/40cm 47%/60cm 18%)

There is a further chance of more showers across the region from Thursday to Saturday.
