Alan also creates a great service to landowners in the region with the utilisation of his pet ferrets.
The ferrets are his family and they are the cure for farmers who have a problem with rabbits.
Alan lets loose his three ferrets, Stevie, Tyson and Snowy down rabbit warrens, which they in turn, chase the rabbits out of their burrows and into nets strategically placed by Alan.
"The ferrets are very good at going into a rabbit hole and chasing the rabbit out. It helps farmers as the rabbits cause so much damage to paddocks," Alan said.
It is an interesting and tactical process, but with the right ferrets and owner, the job gets done.
"They dig holes everywhere, destroying the farmer's land and making it difficult for stock to feed and function on the property."
Alan creates a service for the farmer and it gives his ferrets some much needed exercise.
"There are an endless supply of people who want rabbits when I catch them.
"There are so many rabbits around the area and they do get to pest proportions.
"A big concern is the erosion they cause to the man on the land and to environmental groups," Alan said.
