* Australia has secured an additional 20 million Pfizer doses, doubling the amount set to arrive in the country this year.
* The additional vaccine is not due to arrive until the final three months of the year.
* Prime Minister Scott Morrison welcomed the supply boost after the government backed health advice to avoid people under 50 receiving the AstraZeneca jab because of extremely rare blood clots.
* The immunisation program is unlikely to be completed until 2022, well after the Morrison government's October target.
* Mr Morrison refused to say whether all Australians would be offered at least one dose by Christmas.
* Labor has lambasted the government for failing to secure more deals with other vaccines successfully being rolled out to millions of people worldwide.
* Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese described the rollout as a debacle and demanded certainty about when Australians would be vaccinated.
* The Northern Territory's rollout to remote communities has been derailed by health advice to stop administering AstraZeneca doses to people under 50.
*Unlike the Pfizer vaccine, AstraZeneca does not need to be stored at minus 70C, making for easier transport to areas outside Darwin and Alice Springs that do not have specialist medical refrigerators.
* Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is hopeful changes to health advice for AstraZeneca will not significantly impact the state's rollout.
* NSW has resumed administering the AstraZeneca jab to people aged 50 and over after they were paused on Friday morning.
* Business travellers and international students will be among the first overseas visitors to Australia when borders reopen, leaving tourists last in the queue.
* New Zealanders will be allowed to travel to Western Australia without undergoing quarantine from later this month.
* WA premier Mark McGowan has confirmed that from April 19, New Zealand will become part of WA's controlled-border regime.
