The Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre - The Q - has always been a champion of local artists, but these last two years of border closures and restrictions have confirmed for all of us the value of the talent we have right on our doorstep.

We are looking to the incredible artists we know and love from our region and across the country, with more than half our subscription shows locally produced. We are also thrilled to welcome eight talented regional artists as our first Young Ambassadors for 2022.

There's an electricity in the air. As we emerge from lockdown, we know people are hungry for exciting experiences and live performance, and The Q's bold and adventurous 2022 season will certainly satisfy.

This is a new era for the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre as we fill all our spaces to the brim. The B (Bicentennial Hall) will be buzzing with live music including The Story and Songs of Billy Joel and the new album from rising Australian star, Jess Hitchcock.

There is a dizzying array of tribute bands ranging from INXS to Fleetwood Mac and everything in between! Plus don't forget to bring your little ones along to our Q The Kids shows, featuring science experiments, singing robots and dancing bears.

We're kicking off our new season with our first local production, Smokescreen, a Mad-Men-meets-Mamet look at the tobacco industry's marketing strategies. This is a sharp and clever play about the dark arts of manipulating the message.

If comedy is your jam, try the camp, raucous Ruthless! The Musical, starring the best musical theatre performers from our region. Classic Aussie comedy Mother & Son is back, this time on stage! Or try God of Carnage, a comedy of manners... without the manners.

For lovers of drama, we've got you covered. The Year of Magical Thinking, based on Joan Didion's bestselling memoir, is about the journey to find acceptance and the lessons learnt in letting go.

King of Pigs gives us a raw, honest and surprisingly funny look at a challenging subject. Our local feast continues with 21 Forster St, a kaleidoscope of stories exploring our universal relationships to the places we call home, and Demented, a touching depiction of the heartbreaking, but sometimes absurd and humorous nature of dementia.

We're incredibly proud to be presenting Sunshine Super Girl, the landmark new Australian work by Yorta Yorta/Gunaikurnai theatre maker, Andrea James. It tells the incredible tale of world number one tennis champion Evonne Goolagong.

Sunshine Super Girl is a celebration of spirit and passion over adversity, and a tribute to a woman whose sporting prowess continues to inspire a nation, giving hope to thousands of young girls across the country. See it at The Q before it moves on to Melbourne Theatre Company.

We've missed our audience! There really is something for everyone at The Q, your home of local theatre.
