Over the Easter break we saw some pretty good fishing in our region.

Burrinjuck definitely put on a show with some cracking fish caught; bait anglers fishing around the caravan park caught decent yellow belly and carp on worms, and cod on cheese.
Some solid yellows were caught in the timber – rolling trees with vibes and plastics or slow retrieving minnows past submerged branches. The bigger fish were definitely on the flats and a silent Tn50 did the job.
There were a few bigger cod caught late at night or super early morning and large plastic or subsurface swim baits were the go to.
Googong also yielded some titanic cod over the weekend, and now with more and more anglers fishing the dam I think we will see some big catches over the next few months as the cold weather sets in.
Lake Ginninderra is probably fishing the best at the moment; bait anglers are catching decent yellow belly and redfin in good numbers. Flicking lures around the bridge pylons has also produced a few good yellows. The dam wall and emu bank has held a few small cod and have responded to surface lures and deep diving hard bodies like Stumpy's, Predatek boomerangs and Arashi deep cranks.
Garry Roper got a chunky 51cm yellow trolling around an Orgee Plow, so even yellows will hit your lure intended for a cod!
On the coast, a few marlin are still being caught. Until this week it looked like it was a big downhill slope, hard to find bait and colder weather pushing in, but fresh reports are the opposite – good bait balls with multiple fish and warm water, so this great bite might continue (fingers crossed).
Reef fishing remains a great option as snapper and mowies are feeding up on the deeper reefs, and there's also loads of squid around at the moment which is the best bait (and very tasty!).
