In the mountains, the Eucumbene River is as low as most people have ever seen it. And with no rain on the radar things are looking pretty grim.

On the other hand Lake Eucumbene is alive! Anglers putting their boats in at Anglers Reach and working lures all the way up to the mouth of the river are cleaning up; the trusty Tassie Devils are constantly producing fish, in colours like Canberra Killah, Yellow wings, Ginja Ninja and brown trout. Bait anglers are still reeling them in at night and early morning, again with artificial baits working best.
On the coast there has been very few fishable days out wide, but some good fish have been recorded when the weather permits. A few 40kg plus yellow fin have turned up off Eden, Bermi and the Bay, and if you’re out chasing tuna definitely have a deep drop as some great sized blue eye or ling are still being landed. Plenty of jewfish still getting caught in the Clyde, not sure if they have suddenly regained popularity or there is a new secret method of targeting them... I haven’t seen a good run like this in the estuaries for some time.
Locally things aren’t too bad either. I’m finding yellows close to rock bars in LBG, in particular around the fountain and also the steep banks around Blue Gum point. Redfin have been quite active and some large fish have been caught.
The Murrumbidgee has been fishing well and lots of fish have been on the move. Last week the fish were all caught and seen in fast shallow water this week in deeper water holding tight to structure.
