Montague Island has been a hot topic as of late with fantastic snapper on offer.
Micro jigging has worked well, followed closely by plastics in natural colours.
Kingfish bite has slowed down dramatically but the fish that have been caught have all been solid.
Anglers have been at the island chasing snapper and occasionally throwing out a live bait or floating pillie, which has bagged them a nice king.
One boat reported anchoring up and bait fishing for snapper using a range of baits and a thick burley trail; once things went quiet they then threw out a surface stick bait down the line of the burley.
Two or three twitches of the lure and bang, an extremely healthy and chunky 88cm winter king.
If you’re in need of tuna, things have been electric from Wollongong to Sydney.
Things have been a little slow down south but yet again Mother Nature hasn’t helped!
It’s still a great time of year to spot cast a nice trout in our mountain lakes, with Tantangara and Eucumbene both worth the drive.

Burrinjuck again is a big talking point as its still producing some mammoth cod.
Locally the fishing scene hasn’t changed. We are blessed being anglers in this region: two hours to the salt, two hours to mountain lakes, two hours to Burrinjuck and five minutes to one of our most amazing water ways, which produces fish all year round.
