The donation drive is part of the wider “do it for the farmers” campaign. Queanbeyan East will run its fundraising drive from August 13 to August 24.
In addition to individual donations, half of all profits from the school canteen from August 24 will be contributed to the fund.
They are hoping to challenge other schools in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region to commit to a similar campaign.
Kenrick Winchester, president of the Queanbeyan East P&C, said: “We are one of the smaller schools in town, and having the larger schools on board would assist significantly.”
“We plan to donate profits from canteen sales, which, along with any cash donations, will be used for visa gift cards so they can but what they need,” Mr Winchester said.
Any support the community can lend to the school would be greatly appreciated. Speed is necessary to get funds to struggling farmers quickly.
