The prize was established in 2004 as a biennial event for artists in the Eurobodalla Shire. In 2010 the exhibition extended its reach to include entries from the Bega Valley, Cooma Monaro, Bombala and Snowy River shires. It has since been established as one of the region’s most prestigious art events.
The open contemporary art prize offers a prize pool of more than $25,000, with the $20,000 major prize winner’s work acquired by philanthropist and businessman Basil Sellers and placed in his extensive art collection.
Entries can include 2D works of any medium, excluding photography and digital media. There is no theme but works must have been created in the past 12 months.
The exhibition’s opening in February 2019 will coincide with the opening of the new Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, currently being constructed adjoining Moruya Library.
