We will meet at 7.30pm and are hopeful that there will be a presentation by the Southside Catchment Group on the Holder Wetlands and a proposal to establish a Friends Group.
Those who were at last month’s meeting heard a very detailed outline of the Leisure Centre at Stromlo Forest Park (the new swimming pool complex).
The proposal for the new bus network had a large number of submissions from Weston Creek – some 27 percent of the total. Transport Canberra are looking at this and should have a revised final network out around the end of September. Hopefully, the changes will not be as dramatic as initially proposed.
We are waiting on the Village Building Co lodging their development application and will be interested to see the final plans for this as will be many others.
Council was pleased to see that the government has announced no changes to the Community Contributions Scheme. Council was concerned the proposed changes could impact on many local clubs and organisations.
It’s pleasing to hear that there will be a supermarket opening in Denman Prospect in Molonglo in late January. This is long overdue for Molonglo and the government has much to answer for in not providing such basic services as shops in a reasonable time frame to Molonglo residents.
Put October 28 in your diary now to take part in the Weston Creek 50th Birthday Celebration and Garden Party, to be held in the Fetherston Gardens between 11am and 3pm.
We continue to seek your help with stories of your time in Weston Creek: what you like about it, how long you may have lived here and your memories and photos. Please send these to the Chair@westoncreek.org.au
We are hoping to put a story book together with everyone’s stories and photos.
If there are issues that you wish to raise or discuss, please phone the council on 6288 8975. Otherwise, to keep-up-to-date with all issues affecting Weston Creek, please monitor the Weston Creek Community Council’s website at westoncreek.org.au or follow us on Facebook.
