Albacore have been hungry off Tuross Canyons and also off Eden.
There have been sporadic catches of good sized yellow fin straight out the front of Bermagui too.
There’s really nice water pushing south and, with a few marlin already caught off northern NSW, we are not too far away from a pelagic wonderland.
On the way back in from the shelf, boats have also enjoyed very active sand and tiger flathead and great reef fishing – micro jigging accounting for many captures.
Kingfish are starting to become more aggressive in the region and have smoked a few anglers targeting snapper.
There are quite a few octopuses in the estuaries at the moment which have been causing havoc for bait anglers; despite this, beach worms and live nippers have been catching lots of fish.
Surface is still the way to go with good whiting, bream and flathead all showing up.
Locally it’s still a little hit and miss; if you’re in desperate need to hear your reel scream, then chasing a mud marlin (carp) might be the way to go.
I always marinate my corn overnight in extra sugar so it’s super sweet.
Some very large reddies (40cm+) and the odd solid yellow have been on the chew at dusk in LGB.
